Gambora collects nothing. There is no analytics SDK, no tracking, no advertising identifier and no account. Your repertoires, the moves in them, your drill history and any games you import live on your device.
Every repertoire, move, note, review date and imported game is stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is backed up to us, because there is no us to back it up to. There is no cloud sync in this version; the app's Settings screen has an export instead, so your repertoire can travel to a new phone as a file you control.
Gambora is fully usable offline. It reaches the network in exactly one situation: when you
ask it to import your games. You type a Lichess or Chess.com username and Gambora asks that
service's own public endpoint (lichess.org/api or api.chess.com/pub) for
your recent games. That request contains the username you typed and nothing else: no identifier, no
device information, no account, no repertoire content. We send nothing about you because we have
nothing about you.
Everything else — naming positions, drilling, scheduling, finding where a game left your book — is computed on your device with no network involved at all.
The 3,810 opening names Gambora recognises are bundled inside the app from the
lichess-org/chess-openings data set (CC0 1.0, public domain). No lookup leaves your
phone to name a position.
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Gambora receives from Apple only whether a subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
Gambora requests no camera, photo, location or contacts access. It may ask, once and at a moment that makes sense, whether you would like a daily reminder when lines come due. Declining costs you nothing: the due count keeps waiting for you on the Drill tab, and the app never asks again.
Deleting the app deletes its data with it; there is no copy on our side.
Gambora is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
