Common questions

How do I add a line?

You play it. Open a repertoire, tap a move to open it, and play the next move on the board — no notation to type. Gambora names the position as you go.

What do the station shapes mean?

A filled disc is held — you know it. An open ring is due — time to see it again. A dashed ring is lapsed — closed for maintenance, and it reopens by visiting. A double ring is an interchange: another move order arrives at the same position.

Why does a line come back sooner after I miss it?

Because that is what spaced repetition is for. A move you recall moves further away; a move you miss comes back soon and then works its way out again. Nothing is scored and nothing is scolded.

Where did my games go?

Imports come from the username you type, and only from Lichess or Chess.com. If a game shows "no repertoire to compare", it means you played that colour and have no repertoire for it yet — add one and the game is checked automatically.

Is there a chess engine?

No. Gambora never tells you which move is best; it drills the moves you decided to play. That is a deliberate choice, not a missing feature.

I am changing phone. How do I take my repertoire with me?

Settings → Export your repertoires writes a standard PGN file with every line, which the new phone imports from Settings → Import a repertoire file. There is no account and no cloud in this version, so the file is the road.

What does Pro change?

Only the two ceilings: 250 moves and 20 imported games on the free plan. Every feature — the map, all drill modes, retention, deviation, export — is free. If a subscription lapses, nothing is deleted and nothing is locked.

Do I have to allow notifications?

No. If you decline, the due count still waits for you on the Drill tab and Gambora does not ask again.
