Privacy Policy
Effective: August 8, 2026 · Last updated: August 8, 2026
The short version:
Your studio stays on your device. Every piece, glaze, recipe, test tile and firing you record in Coneglow — including the photos — is stored only on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData, with iCloud sync deliberately switched off. There is no account and no login. We never receive any of it. Coneglow has no analytics and no tracking of any kind, and we never show ads. Export is free, forever.
1. Who we are
Coneglow ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and distributed by TheKnack. Questions or concerns: theknack2020@gmail.com.
2. Your records stay on your device
Coneglow is a pottery log. Everything you record is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData, and it is kept there only:
- Pieces — names, notes, clay bodies, the stage each one has reached, outcomes and status
- Photos you take or choose for a stage, a firing result, or a test tile
- Glazes and your own recipes, including ingredient percentages and version history
- Test tiles, layering pairings and blend calculations
- Kiln profiles and firing records — dates, cones, schedules and load lists
We do not upload, mirror, sync, or read any of this. There is no Coneglow server. Your recipes in particular are yours: many potters treat a glaze recipe as intellectual property, and Coneglow is built so that it never leaves your phone unless you export it yourself.
3. Photos and the camera
Coneglow asks for camera or photo library access only at the moment you add a photo to a record — never on first launch. Photos are written into the app's own local database and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Coneglow uses Apple's own system camera and system photo picker. It does not run a custom camera layer of its own.
- Declining is fully supported. If you refuse camera or photo access, Coneglow keeps working: a record still carries its dates, clay body, glaze coats, cone, kiln and notes, and the fired-versus-unfired evidence marks still read. Nothing is blanked out and nothing is nagged.
- You can change these permissions any time in iPhone Settings → Coneglow.
4. Exporting your data
Coneglow exports your records as a CSV file at your request, using Apple's standard file exporter — you choose where the file goes. The file is created on your device and is never routed through us. Export is free forever and is never placed behind a subscription. A record you cannot take with you is not really yours, and we do not treat it as leverage.
5. Analytics: none
Coneglow contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind. There is no third-party analytics SDK, no usage tracking, and no device identifier collection — not even an anonymous "app opened" counter ever leaves your phone.
This is why Coneglow's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected". Any sense of how the app is doing comes only from Apple's own aggregate App Store Connect figures, which never reach into your device.
6. What we do not do
- We do not require an account, sign-up, or login.
- We do not store your pieces, photos, recipes or firings on any server — there is no Coneglow server.
- We do not put your records in iCloud; the app's database has CloudKit sync switched off.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, and we never show ads.
- We do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt — there is nothing to track.
- We do not send notifications; version 1.0 schedules none at all.
- We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs — only Apple's own frameworks (SwiftData, PhotosUI, AVFoundation, StoreKit).
7. App Store purchases
If you subscribe to Coneglow Pro (monthly or yearly), Apple processes the transaction. We receive from Apple only a receipt confirming your entitlement status; we do not receive your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
8. Children
Coneglow is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects nothing from anyone, there is no children's data for us to hold.
9. Keeping, changing and deleting your records
- Edit: every record you create can be corrected in the app. A mistyped entry is never a permanent error.
- Delete: every record can be removed, with a 30-second undo in case you change your mind.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes all of its local data from your device. Since Coneglow keeps nothing in iCloud and nothing on a server, that is the end of it.
- Backups: copies may persist inside encrypted device or iCloud device backups you keep, which are managed by Apple, until those backups are deleted or rotate out.
We retain no server-side copy of your content, because we never receive it.
10. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and other regions)
Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, most data-subject requests resolve on your own device:
- Coneglow collects nothing about you, so there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, or erase.
- We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
- EU/EEA and UK residents retain all rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents retain all rights under the CCPA/CPRA.
- To exercise any right, or if you have questions, email theknack2020@gmail.com.
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Coneglow handles data, this page will update with a new effective date.
12. Governing law
This policy and the operation of Coneglow are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Where European Union consumer protections (including the GDPR) provide stronger rights, those rights apply to EU residents.
