Micro Journal is designed with privacy at its core. Your journal entries are your most private thoughts, and we treat them accordingly. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, and we have no servers of our own. Your writing lives on your device and nowhere else.
Journal entries, mood data, streak information and preferences are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Your entries stay on the device you write them on. Micro Journal has no sync of any kind — it does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or any other service to copy your writing anywhere. Entries are stored locally on the device by the app itself. No copy is ever sent to us or to any third party.
Turning iCloud on or off for Micro Journal in iOS Settings changes nothing, because the app never uses it. The Settings screen inside the app says the same thing under WHERE: “On this device.” The Pro export — plain text or the PDF Book of Days — is the only way a copy of your journal leaves the device, and only when you ask for it.
Micro Journal does not collect:
The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. Its App Store privacy declaration is "Data Not Collected".
Micro Journal offers an optional app lock using Face ID or Touch ID. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework on your device. No biometric data is accessed, stored or transmitted by Micro Journal.
You may attach one photo to an entry. The photo is chosen through Apple's system photo picker and stored alongside that entry on your device. Micro Journal does not read your photo library beyond the single image you pick.
If you enable reminders, notification scheduling happens locally on your device. There are no push notifications from a server, because there is no server.
Micro Journal Pro is sold and processed entirely through Apple's App Store using Apple's StoreKit. We never see your payment information. Purchase status is read from Apple on your device; no subscription-management service or other third party is involved.
The export features (Pro) let you share your entries as a text file or a PDF using the iOS share sheet. Micro Journal does not retain or transmit exported files — where they go is entirely your choice, handled by iOS.
None. Micro Journal uses no third-party services. Apple's own frameworks — StoreKit for purchases, LocalAuthentication for the app lock — are the only external systems involved, and each acts under your Apple ID rather than ours.
Micro Journal does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal data from any user, there is no age-specific data processing.
You can delete every entry at any time from Settings → Delete every line, which erases them from the device including any copy carried over from an earlier version. Uninstalling the app removes what is stored on that device.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any change will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
